The BLUES CRITIC staff picks...

SOUTHERN SOUL ARTIST OF THE YEAR

KING GEORGE

Former hardcore rap artist King George decided to tip his hat into the ever growing Southern Soul market and over the course of a couple years found himself as the hottest artist in the genre. Primarily buoyed by his supernova hit "Keep On Rollin'" he proved himself to be no one-hit wonder as his songs "Leave & Party", "Friday Night", "Love Song", "Girl U Got It" all seemed like "song of the year" due to airplay and sales.  In this year's Blues Critic Awards readers poll he wins Best Southern Soul/R&B Album ("Juke Joint Music"), Southern Soul Song Of The Year ("Keep On Rollin'), Best Vocal Performance Male (for "Keep On Rollin'") and Best New Artist.

As if that was enough he also shares the award Best Performance By A Duo Or Group with P2K Dadiddy for "U Turn" AND Best Dance or Funk Song with Tucka for "Juke Box Lover (Remix)"

King George is the undisputed Southern Soul Artist Of The Year for 2022.
